The custom of riding oxen

There are Baracoans who deny that oxen were ridden in olden times, these people say that only during carnival did some people ride oxen for comic effect, and that the only people in the country who did it were charcoal-burners taking their merchandise to sell in the city.

Others tell us that many years ago there were people who rode oxen and they still remember some of their names. These individuals apparently came to the city riding the animals in question saddled and bridled as if they were horses.

Currently not only do we not ride oxen, but they are also scarce in the region. The plough is hardly used because the terain tends to be steep, also the soil is very loose and easy to sow by hand.
